Church History:

There are several congregations of the Church of Christ in London and indeed, the UK. The New Cross church used to meet on Ilderton Road until 1991, when we moved to our current premises in the Barnes Wallis Centre at New Cross.

Our congregation has always been a diverse group, consisting of different nationalities from around the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries of West Indies and Africa. We also have members from Asia, Europe and the USA.

We share common values, goals, objectives, and unity in Christ.

Our Beliefs:

  • We believe in the existence of only one true living God in heaven, the creator of the   universe.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God
  • We believe in his death, burial and resurrection from the dead as assurance of our hope that we too, one day shall rise from the power of grave.
  • We believe that Baptism by immersion is essential to ones' salvation
  • We believe that Jesus established only one true church
  • We believe that the bible is the only inspired revelation from God
  • We believe that Jesus is coming again, and that everyone will be held accountable to God on the day of judgement

What we don't believe:

  • We do not believe that one church is as good as another, because the Church which teaches error is not as good as the church which teaches truth, the church which teaches part of truth, is not as good as the church which teaches the whole truth.  Neither can you be taught wrong and practice right.
  • We don't believe that once saved always saved, because a child of God can be eternally lost if he/she lives in sin again.
  • We do not believe that instrumental music should be used in Christian worship
  • We do not believe in the modern miracle workers of today
